Flashback to the year 2026: Archive, the unique, enigmatic and celebrated collective formed in Croydon, South London in 1994, release their 13th studio album, ‘Glass Minds’. Produced by Archive and long-time collaborator Jerome Devoise, recorded at Metway Studios in Brighton and Angel Studios in London and mixed at Studio DES in Paris. The album artwork was designed by Saatchi Gallery’s resident artist Alaric Hammond. ‘Glass Minds’ is the follow-up to the 2022 triple album ‘Call To Arms & Angels’, which entered the Top 10 across Europe and gave the band their biggest live shows to date, culminating in November 2023 at the 15,000-capacity Accor Arena in Paris. Darius Keeler from Archive said of the new album: ‘The album came about after we composed the song ‘Patterns’. We were inspired by the vastness and minimalist power of the song. It reminded us of our debut album ‘Londinium’ and our approach to songwriting back then – heavy rhythm with a melancholy that pierces the soul. I was listening to a lot of Elgar’s ‘Nimrod’ when we started writing the new album and wanted to use brass as an extra dimension to give the songs even more emotion. Our last album ‘Call to Arms & Angels’ was a pretty tough record in retrospect because of the whole Covid experience.’ It feels like we’re moving into a broader and more uplifting dimension
