After the epochal hammer album ‘Close To The Edge’, Yes could really only break in, but barely twelve months and a splendid triple live LP in between, they were already on the mat with a new, no less ambitious stroke of genius. Instead of three songs between nine and 19 minutes, Tales From Topographic Oceans features four long tracks (all around 20 minutes), each taking up a whole side of the double LP format and containing enough musical potential to help a less ambitious band through ten years of creative starvation. But Yes juggle their flashes of inspiration as if they were something completely commonplace. Without making any commercial concessions to the mainstream market, they negate all familiar rock patterns for 80 minutes and set a wonderfully philosophical, emotionally active story to music, which is primarily based on Jon Anderson’s meditation experiences in India. The result is a harmonious, coherent unit that is probably unparalleled over such a long playing time in the prog genre, which is not exactly lacking in long pieces. An absolute classic of the genre!!! This comprehensive album release contains twelve CDs, two LPs and one Blu-Ray audio. A remastered and remastered version of the original album by Bernie Grundman for vinyl and CD. Dive deeper with new 2026 Steven Wilson remixes of the main album, including instrumental versions, alongside a treasure trove of previously released rarities. This collection is enriched by parts of two previously unreleased live performances from the legendary Tales tour.
